Zebedee Scott Jr 1949-2019

Zebedee Scott, Jr. (Brother Zebedee 2X) was born on December 11, 1949 to Zebedee and Ruth Scott in Brooklyn, NY. By family he was affectionately known as Junior but to others he was called Zack or Zeb. He attended school in Brooklyn.  The family moved to Far Rockaway, Queens in 1965. There he met and fell in love with Diane Washington, his soulmate. Through the late sixties he faced many struggles. In 1970 he was introduced to the teachings of Elijah Muhammad which turned his life around. He was also working on, before his passing, becoming a minister in the Nation of Islam (NOI).

Junior was a creative person. He loved to converse with people about religion and politics. He loved to express himself through music and photography. He was witty, honest, very intelligent, serious at times, funny and loving. He loved jazz and Motown era music. Zeb was a Self-taught musician playing piano, melodica hand organ, and saxophone. He took part in bringing folks together around his music in Redfern Houses. His entrepreneur spirit fostered by NOI allowed him to start his own business selling oils to family and friends which progressed to a small business on Cornega Avenue in Far Rockaway for a short time. He studied under Sunni Muslims for a short period of time and then returned to the NOI.

Zebedee departed this life for paradise on Wednesday May 15, 2019. He was preceded in death by his parents Zebedee and Ruth Scott, his sister Delores Scott- Smith and his brother Carl Scott. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Diane Washington, his daughters Talibah Washington and Sonjia Royal, his son-in-law Ronald Royal, Jr., his grandchildren Daneisha M. Royal and Dashawn N. Royal, his sisters Joyce Scott- Brayboy and Loretta Scott and a host of other relatives and friends.
