SISTER GLORIA S WALLACE OBITUARY

Sister Gloria Wallace was born August 20, 1938 to Johnny and Odell Wallace in Houston Texas. She was the youngest of five siblings. On October 16, 2016 Sister Gloria Wallace received the wings that would take her to her heavenly home. She attended the Houston I.S.D Pre-K through 12. Sister Wallace gave her life to the lord at a very young age and she was passionate about singing the gospel for the lord! She was a member of St. Paul Baptist Church for 30 years plus! She was known and called Mahalia Jackson by many. Her butter pond cake would wake up the entire neighborhood with its mesmerizing aroma! She could put French’s out of business with her Southern style Fried Chicken! Her sweet potato pies were mouthwatering! Her bar-b que was magnificent! Those that went before her and await her arrival on the other side are: Johnny and Odell Wallace (parents), Juanita Ferguson, Johnny M Johnson, and Freddie Wallace (siblings), Eugene and Raymond Wilson (sons) and James Hawkins JR. (grand-son) She leaves to cherish her memories, Erma Lee Davis (sister) Shelia Williams, Jerome Wilson. Joyce Compton, (Donald), Robert Wilson (Cheryl), Patricia Bryant, (Timothy) and Felecia Wilson (Children) Fourteen grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren, and host of cousin nieces and nephews. “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14:1-4 “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you…” John 14:27 Her life style provided a template worthy of imitation by both young and old. She will forever be remembered by many for her ever-present smile and gentle ways. Her unselfish service to her family, church and community will be the greatest testaments to the legacy she has left upon the earth. The void she has left behind can never be filled. In quiet dignity, surrounded by an abundance of love and family, Gloria S. Wallace exchanged her labor for reward and entered into eternal rest on Oct, 16, 2016. Her spirit is commended to the serenity of peace and the blessing of eternal life. As she awaits her crowning, she is greeted by her parents, (Johnny and Odell Wallace) her siblings (Juanita Ferguson, Johnnie M. Johnson and Freddie Wallace) her sons (Eugene and Raymond Wilson) her grandson (James Hawkins Jr.) and host of other relatives and friends. “Come to me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. ” Matthew 11:28-30
