CHARLIE LEE WARD OBITUARY
Charlie Lee Ward was born on April 9, 1937 to the union shared between the late Robert and Endia (Waites) Ward, he was the seventh child out of sixteen children he was born in Palestine, Arkansas. Mr. and Mrs. Ward valued the importance of entrusting their children with God, and therefore had Charlie baptized in Palestine, Arkansas as an infant. Coming from a family of humble beginnings, Charlie was taught at an early age that the love for the Lord and family are truly what matters in life.
Charlie met his first wife Josie in Lake Charles, Louisiana and from this union, they had six children; Charles, Randall, Kenneth, Leisha, Charlene, Darlene. Their family would later moved to Houston, Texas where he retired from the United States Air Force as a Master Sergeant E7 during his tour of service he was a senior dental assistant and after retiring he became a licensed vocational nurse which launched his entrepreneurial spirit. He and his brother Marvin started a Nursing Staffing Relief Agency and he was also the CEO of Auxiliary Certified Nurse Assistant Training School. He later remarried to his current wife of thirty-four years Beverly. No children were produced from this union, but he loved his step-children Ed and Lauren very much.
Charlie was a family man dedicated to ensuring that his family had the basic essentials in life, and that they pursued their goals, and had morals. Charlie has a legacy that is truly admirable; he stressed to his children and grandchildren the importance of education, being supportive to one another, hard work, and perseverance.
Charlie wanted his family to strive to do better than his accomplishments, and to always put God first. Charlie was always kind-hearted. Many who loved and knew him fondly called him by his nick name “Sonny”, and he brought smiles and laughter to those that were around him. He did his best to make everyone happy, and would move mountains to support those in need. All those individuals that Charlie touched will truly miss him. Charlie was an avid golfer and fisherman he was also an astronomy enthusiast. He believed in staying physically fit he would ride his bike 26 miles at least 3-4 times a week prior to him becoming ill. His favorite book is “The Sermon on the Mount”, his favorite western is “Tombstone” and his favorite bible verse is Psalms 23.
Charlie left with his Guardian Archangel Raphael to be with Jesus on November 1, 2016 at 10:25pm at Methodist Hospital in Sugarland, TX he was surround by his loving family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Endia Ward; First wife: Josie Ward; son: Randall Ward; brothers Delena and Willis; sisters: Addie, Eddie Mae, Christine, Patsy, Edith.
Those that Charlie leaves to carry on his legacy are his children; Charles (Kathy), Kenneth, Leisha (Calvin), Charlene (Byron), Darlene, Ed, Lauren (Loren). Brothers: Marvin and Verlin. Sisters: Minnie, Sarah, Barbara, Nancy, Muriel. Host of: grandchildren, great grand children, nieces and nephews and friends.
